Managing Custom Alerts

Intro

You can manage custom alerts in two different locations—in the card Details view and in the Alerts manager page. In a Details view you can view and manage all alerts for an individual card. In the Alerts manager you can view and manage all alerts you are following in Domo; you can also choose to follow suggested alerts created by other users. From either location you can open a panel that provides options for setting notifications, making edits, viewing the owner and followers, and seeing the alert history.

Note: The Alerts manager page discussed in this topic is entirely separate from the "Alert Center." In the Alerts manager page you can view the history of alerts, follow or unfollow alerts, or edit/delete alerts. The Alert Center page, on the other hand, provides a means for exploring new content in Domo, such as Buzz conversations, trending cards, recent alerts, and so on. For more information about the Alert Center, see Alert Center Layout.

Understanding the Parts of the Alerts Page

You can access the Alerts manager page from any page or subpage by clicking Alerts in the page navigation bar at the top of the screen.

In the Alerts manager, you can do the following:

  • view alerts that have been triggered

  • view all alerts you are following

  • view and follow suggested alerts created by other users

  • unfollow alerts

  • open the options panel for an alert, where you can view its history, follow or unfollow it, edit it, or delete it

You can learn more about the components in the following table:

Categories of alerts

Let you more easily locate the alerts you want. Alerts in the Alerts manager are divided into the following categories—"Triggered," "Followed," and "Suggested." Triggered alerts are those alerts you are following that have been triggered. Followed alerts are alerts you are following that have not been triggered. Suggested alerts are alerts you are not following that are recommended by Domo based on your metadata.

Notification Settings link

Opens the Manage Notifications & Alerts screen, in which you can set delivery options for alerts and other notifications.

History link

Opens the Alert History view, which shows the history for all alerts you are following.

For information about the parts of the card Details view, see Card Details View Layout

Following or unfollowing an alert

When you follow an alert on a card, you receive notifications whenever that alert is triggered, edited, or deleted.

You can choose to receive notifications instantly when alerts are triggered. Or you can choose to receive a daily or weekly email listing all alerts that triggered in the last day or week, respectively. When any of these options (Instantly, Daily, or Weekly) are enabled in the Notify Me menu, you are considered to be "following" the alert. Alerts you are following then appear in the appropriate tabs in the Manage Notifications & Alerts screen. You can then set delivery options for these alerts as necessary. For more information about managing notifications and alerts, see Configuring Notification and Alert Settings.

When you unfollow an alert, you no longer receive notifications when any changes occur for that alert. You unfollow an alert by clearing all of the options in the Follow menu.

To follow or unfollow an alert,

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Open the pertinent Details view by clicking on its card, then click  in the top right corner.

    • Click Alerts in the toolbar at the top of the screen.

  2. For the alert you want to follow or unfollow, click Notify Me.

  3. (Conditional) Do one of the following:

    1. To follow, check one or more boxes.

    2. To unfollow, clear all checkboxes.

For more information about the InstantlyDaily, and Weekly notification options, see Configuring Notification and Alert Settings

Editing an alert

Editing an alert is discussed in Creating a Custom Alert for a KPI Card.
